Unlocking the bootloader on your
Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco device is an essential step if you want to customize
your phone, install custom ROMs, or gain full control over it. While the
process might seem intimidating at first, don’t worry—this guide breaks it down
into simple steps. Let’s dive in!
Step 1: Download and Install Required Tools
- Download MiFlash Tool
- Visit Xiaomi's official website or a trusted source to
download the MiFlash program.
- Extract the downloaded file and install the program on
your PC or laptop.
- Ensure that all necessary drivers are installed during the setup process.
2. Download Mi Unlock Tool
- Download the Mi Unlock Tool from Xiaomi’s official
website.
- Extract the file, open the folder, and locate the batch_unlock.exe
file to run the tool.
Step
2: Sign In to Your Mi Account
- Open the Mi Unlock Tool.
- Click on Sign In (found at the bottom left
corner).
- Enter your Mi Account credentials. Ensure the Mi
Account is the same one linked to your device.
Step 3: Enable Developer Options and OEM Unlocking
1. On your Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco device:
- Go to Settings > About Phone.
- Tap MIUI Version seven times until you see a message saying, “You are now a developer!”
- Enable OEM Unlocking.
- Navigate to Settings > Mi Unlock Status.
- Agree to the terms, then tap Add Account and Device.
- Wait for the message “Added successfully.”

4: Boot into Fastboot Mode
- Restart your phone.
- As soon as it restarts, press and hold the Volume
Down button until the Fastboot screen appears.

laptop.
- Open the Mi Unlock Tool.
- The tool should detect your device and display its
status as Locked.

6: Unlock the Bootloader
- Click the Unlock button (or press F6) in the Mi
Unlock Tool.
- If prompted with the message “Please unlock 168
hours later,” you’ll need to wait 7 days before proceeding.

7: Complete the Unlocking Process After 7 Days
- After the waiting period, restart your phone and enter
Fastboot mode again by pressing and holding the Volume Down button.
- Connect your device to the PC and reopen the Mi Unlock
Tool.
- Click the Unlock button.
